A Praça do Município, em Lisboa, é um espaço cheio de história onde foi construído um dos edifícios mais bonitos da capital portuguesa, o dos Paços do Conselho da Câmara Municipal de Lisboa.
Uma vez por mês é possível visitá-lo mas antes de entrar, vale a pena olhar com atenção para a sua lindissíma fachada, com a varanda de onde foi proclamada a República, no dia 5 de Outubro de 1910 e onde hoje em dia, os clubes lisboetas, por hábito, se deslocam após a conquista de um troféu importante, para aí mostrarem o troféu conquistado ao povo de lisboa.
Depois de entrar no edifício, o início da visita não podia começar em melhor local, na notável escadaria da entrada. Se a escadaria supreende pela beleza, o que dizer do Salão Nobre (o maior e mais rico do país) ou a Sala das Sessões Privadas. Divisões preciosamente ornamentadas com estuques trabalhados, relevos e pinturas murais.
O edifício é, de facto, maravilhoso e ainda tem a componente histórica. Fica-se com a sensação de estar tão perto de locais onde foram escritas importantas páginas da História de Portugal.
Há 20 anos atrás, no dia 7 de Novembro de 1996, os Paços de Concelho de Lisboa ardiam.
Um incêndio destruiu os pisos superiores, ficando afetados os tetos e pinturas do primeiro andar.
Muitos lisboetas temeram o pior, mas devido à pronta atuação dos bombeiros e dos funcionários da CML, salvaram-se memórias fundamentais da cidade, entre as quais o Foral de Lisboa.
Posteriormente o edifício foi reabilitado,num principio de fidelidade à tradição histórica e arquitetónica.

The building is in fact still has wonderful and historical component. One gets the feeling of being so close to places where capital were written pages of history of Portugal.
20 years ago, on November 7, 1996, the Lisbon Municipality of Paços burned.
A fire destroyed the upper floors, leaving affected the ceilings of the first floor and paintings.
Lisbon many feared the worst, but due to the prompt action of the firefighters and the CML staff, saved up fundamental memories of the city, including the Foral de Lisboa.
Later the building was rehabilitated, in fidelity to principle historical and architectural tradition.
